Snow Removal – Homeowner Responsibilty

Snow Removal Compliance Notice

Governors Run Homeowners’ Association (GRHOA)

Dear Homeowner,

We hope you stay warm and safe during the winter weather. As a friendly reminder, we ask all residents to help keep our community safe and accessible by taking care of snow and ice around their homes.

A Few Helpful Reminders

  • Please clear snow and ice from the sidewalk in front of your property within 48 hours of snowfall, as required by Howard County Code §18.402(h). GRHOA By-Laws, and ARC Review Criteria
  • Kindly do not shovel or blow snow into the street, as this can create hazards and block neighbors once plows have passed
  • During snow events, please move vehicles off the street whenever possible so plows and emergency vehicles can safely and fully clear the roadway. Parking opposite another vehicle can be especially troublesome. ARC Review Criteria

Why This Matters

Clearing sidewalks and streets helps prevent slips and falls, improves access for neighbors and visitors, and allows snow‑removal crews to do their work effectively. Our community guidelines ask homeowners to maintain their property in a way that avoids unsafe or nuisance conditions.

Thank You

We understand winter storms can be challenging, and we truly appreciate your cooperation and consideration for your neighbors. Your efforts help keep Governors Run safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
